Bollywood celebrity Aftab Shivdasani will lead the India Day Parade in Chicago on Aug 18, 2012. Shivdasani has been invited to be the grand marshal at the parade to celebrate India’s 66th Independence Day.
The grand parade is organized annually by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of Chicago. Shivdasani will lead the parade down Devon Avenue, the epicenter of “Little India,” in the North-west suburb of Chicago. The parade moves through more than 10 blocks and is usually attended by thousands of curious onlookers.
Ajai Aghinotri, FIA Chicago president and trustee Iftekhar Shareef worked closely over the last few weeks with Shivadasani’s North American Manager Nick Rajsakha of EEG Talent and exclusive booking agent Niraj Trivedi of Desi Timeout Inc to facilitate the appearance.
“I am proudly looking forward to leading the parade in Chicago,” Shivdasani said in a statement. “Nothing is more satisfying than celebrating India’s Independence Day in America with Indian Americans.”
“Aftab is a great performer and a very humble celebrity,” said Aghinotri.
