North Brunswick, NJ March 5, 2010:

Central New Jersey branch of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin honored the fellow physician and community leader Dr. Sudhir Parikh for making it to the list of  2010 Padma Shri award winners. One of the most coveted awards of India will be presented to Dr. Parikh by the President of India on April 4th 2010 in New Delhi.

Members of the association paid rich tributes to Dr. Parikh at a function held at Jewel of India in North Brunswick, NJ. “We are very proud of Dr. Parikh for his wonderful accomplishments”, said Dr. Thomas Alapatt, president of Federation of AAPI of Greater NY-NJ. “He is a down to earth guy who is never affected by honors”, commented Dr. Ashok Kumar of East Brunswick whose sentiments were echoed by Dr. Om Sawhney.

Dr. Satish Anand admired Dr. Parikh as a great friend who was always ready to help fellow doctors and community members. Dr. Bapineedu of Bridgewater commented that Parikh was a God fearing person who believed in quietly connecting with the super powers of the universe. Dr. Vijay Gupta of Passaic said that Dr. Parikh was leading the Indian American community with dignity and courage. “He has set an example for everyone of us.” Dr. Dipti Patel, president of AAPI-NJ conducted the meeting.

Replying to the speeches by fellow physicians, Dr. Parikh said that he was overwhelmed by the honor bestowed by the government and people of \\\'the motherland\\\'. “It meant that I have to constantly work to prove myself worthy of it. I recognize the responsibility of living up to this honor by reinforcing my efforts to further U.S.-India relations, and making greater efforts at community service on both sides of the Atlantic”, he commented.

Dr. Parikh is the only Indian American to have received three distinguished awards, Ellis Island Award, Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, and the Padma Shri award.
