A phenomenon like 3 Idiots is rare in Bollywood. After breaking all Box Office records worldwide, impressing movie critics and rousing audiences across the globe, the biggest Bollywood movie of 2009 is all set to woo the juries in award circles. 3 idiots has won 21 nominations at the Star Screen Awards, one of India’s most coveted movie awards. This is a record breaker of sorts, in the 16 years of the Star Screen Awards establishment; this is the highest number of nominations for a movie.

It has won nominations in the following categories: Best Film, Best Director (Rajkumar Hirani), Best Actor (Aamir Khan), Best Actress (Kareena Kapoor), Best Supporting Actor (R.Madhavan and Sharman Joshi), Best Actor – Negative Role (Boman Irani), Best Actor – Comic Role (Omi Vaidya), Best Background Score (Shantanu Moitra/Atun Ranaga/ Sanjay Wandrekar), Best Singer – Female (Shreya Ghosal for Zoobie Doobie), Best Story (Abhijat Joshi & Rajkumar Hirani), Best Screenplay (Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra), Best Dialogues (Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani), Best Editing (Rajkumar Hirani), Best Sound (Bishwajeet Chatterjee & Nihar Ranjan Samal), Best Cinematography (C.K Murlidharan), Best Art Direction (Acropolis, Rajneesh Hedda, Sumit & Snigdha Basu) and Best Choreography (Avit Dias for All Izz Well & Bosco-Ceasar for Zoobie Doobie).  

With such heavy-weight contenders from the 3 Idiots team, this will undoubtedly be a tough run for the other nominees. And we guess this will be remembered in movie history as the most idiotic victory of all times!
