Fords (New Jersey): Braving the worst-ever snow in the month of December The Indo American Cultural Society (IACS) celebrated its Christmas Party with fun and frolic. The foul weather did not allow the party to be spoilt.
The Christmas party had everything that one would ask for: dance, music, food and not to forget the drink to keep the spirit high—literally. The IACS party was organized by organized by Peter Kothari at the Royal Albert’s Palace. For the convenience of the party- goers, arrangements were made for valet parking so that the participants did not have trouble in navigating their vehicles in snow.
Despite the fact that the weathermen had forecasted heavy snowfall right from Saturday night, the invitees could not resist the invitation by Mr. Kothari who is also well known throughout the Indian community for organizing the event despite all odds. He is the man who organizes events like the Navratri festival and the summer picnic.
Right from the word go it was fun and frolic and the mood soon shifted into party mode with the arrival of Santa Claus who had brought gifts for every child present at the party. Not only were the children given gifts, even the elders were treated to gifts wrapped in all type of fancy wrappers and had different shape and sizes.
As the clock ticked away, the mood started changing and the party gathered momentum. The crowd was entertained my some music and dance organized by various dance parties who also braved the snow and came to perform in front of an appreciative crowd.
It was party time with the conclusion of the ritual of honoring the sponsors which included Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher airlines which also served beer. Some of the local community leaders who had extended their help in organizing the Christmas Party were also honored by Mr. Kothari. Some of the top community leaders like Dr. Vithal Dhaduk, councilman Sudhanshu Prasad, Edison Mayor Mr.Jun Choi and several Republican Party colleagues of Mr. Kothari braved the foul weather to attend the party.
No sooner did the ritual got over the DJ called upon the audience to hit the dance floor and with that the crowd , young and old, boys and girls and even their parents danced their heart out to some loud Hindi filmi music.
People were also served delicious Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. However when the weather started worsening the people, though willing to stay on till late to enjoy the party decided to call it a day as the driving back home was a nightmare and with children onboard the parents did not have the heart to take any more risk.
It was one of the parties that every Indian in the Tri-State area would look forward and would never forget the foul weather and the fun and frolic at the party.
